Is there any way to make SyncToy run real-time, so when I make a change in
folder C:\stuff, it is replicated to \\my-server\stuff instantly. or do I
have to schedule it to run every five minutes?

Cheers

Pete

Even if you could somehow get this to work, it's really not the intent
behind SyncToy. If not for the remote machine requirement (is it?), I'd say
look into RAID1.

Hi Pete,

SyncToy does not have an option to run constantly. I also wouldn't recommend
running it every 5 minutes in the scheduler, though that may work.

SyncToy was designed to do a great job interactively, and a good job running
as a scheduled application, when keeping multiple copies of files on multiple
drives/machines. We have had some requests to support constant syncing, and
we'll consider that for future releases.

I hope this helps...

For a more powerful sync solution, look into the excellent utility
SecondCopy2000 at http://www.secondcopy.com/

The current 2000 version won't automatically sync when it sees a file's
changed, but you can schedule it to run ever 1 minute plus run at shutdown or
startup. A new version they're testing in beta WILL. From their website:

* Run profile as soon as any files change

BTW, I'm just a happy user, not a shill for Centered Systems.
