Just installed SyncToy and was startled to find that it designates 40 files
out of 250 that are identical for "overwrite" synchronization (using Echo
method).
The sizes and file stamps match, down to the second, and both the source and
destination drives are formatted NTFS. This happens even after I change
options to "check file contents."
I have another, old file sync utility, called (interestingly enough)
FileSync, that does not flag these files as being different - and neither
does my regular backup program, FileBack PC. Only SynctToy finds any
difference between these 40 files on my source drive and my backup drive.
Any ideas why? (I'm wondering if it could have something to do with
alternate data streams which may exist in the source files but are not copied
by FileBack PC or FileSync.)
Thanks.
