SyncToy and .Net

There are reason some turn away from Windows...it's just not user friendly in
some cases. Synctoy is a nice tool but during downloading, it requires .Net
and when you follow the link, it gives you three .Net options without
explanation. As not so techy photographers, how do we know which .Net to
download?

The SyncToy does not work if you have the current version installed without
the older one and it is quite difficult to install the older one after the
current one has been installed. If you get the message and have not got .NET
Framework V 2.0 installed, just run Windows Update and Install .NET Framework
Version 1.1, NOT 2.0. If you already have 2.0 installed, it needs to be
uninstalled before the tools will allow you to install 1.1.

Uninstalling .NET 2.0 is not neccessary. The problem is Windows Update does
not offer 1.1 if 2.0 is installed. Instead go to the download centre and get
the ".NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package" - this will install
with .NET 2.0 already installed (don't forget to do an immediate Windows
update to bring .NET 1.1 up to date).
