Synchronizing Outlook

Is there a way to synchronize outlook from a desktop to a laptop in a
similar way you can do it with a PDA. Active Sync does not seem to want to
use the ethernet connection to see the laptop.

I have a home lan with a router to share the internet connection and use a
similar workgroup to network the computers.

If there is an easy way to sync contacts, appointments notes, calenader,
please advise
