Can anyone tell me how to synchronize (not just transfer) contacts, tasks
and meetings between outlook and msaccess.
The question is more to get an idea which system to use to know which
existing Access contact, task or meeting would be linked with which Outlook
contact, task or meeting?

Hi Ken,

I was aware of the possibility to link directly, but that is not what I
meant.
I just bought both books MS Outlook Programming (to which you refer) but
also Programming MS Outlook 2000 (that you co-authored)
I have in the past used automation to throw data from Access (contacts) into
Outlook.

Talking about synchronizing I was just wondering how to do this in
automation ; do you use like a key field and a date like used in MS Access
database replication; if you then create custom fields in outlook for these
fields you could also know when things have changed from the outlook side?
or is there another way to do this? I hope you understand what I mean?

Every item in Outlook has a LastModificationTime property. You can use that
along with a field in the Access table to determine synching and in which
direction. You just have to be careful not to cause an endless loop of
synching as each item gets updated on either or both sides.
