Synchronizing hierarchy error messages when importing .pst file

Am attempting to import a .pst file from work to home PC. Address book
transfers OK but email messages do not - multiple "Synchronizing
hierarchy....Terminated in error" messages recorded.

Never import a PST. Open it with File>Open>Outlook Data File.
