Hi, Hope someone out there can help me!

Im running a Desktop PC, using XP Home and a Laptop using XP Pro that are
networked using LAN cards both sharing the Cable internet (from the
Desktop)

I have set up the file sharing so I can access what files I want from each
machine, but what I would like to do is be able to synchronize files so that
the ones that I have worked on/created/modified on the laptop or desktop Pc
are automatically updated so that I always have a backup of the files on my
Desktop PC (if my laptop goes AWOL etc) and vice versa If i get a new
instruction from work and save it to my desktop PC then when I connect the
laptop to the network the files get updated on that machine.

How can I do this please

thanks in advance

Steve

Steve,

the simplest way is to just copy to and fro using, for example,
XCOPY with the appropriate switches. I do it all the time using
ROBOCOPY from the Windows 2000 resource kit. Yet another
excellent choice is XXCOPY.

There are some traps, but if you just synchronize your data
files---no problem.
