Hello

I am wondering if there is a solution to sync Outlook 2003 data to a custom
csv file. Data must be synchronized, not only be exported and imported.
As a background information: We use a custom database application containing
contacts, todos and addresses as part of an small ERP suite. Now we would
like to sync those data with Outlook 2003. I suppose, most probably we have
to export those data to a csv file and then synchronize to Outlook.
The custom ERP suite is a custom made solution.

Any help will kindly be appreciated, thanks a lot.

Hi Robert

thanks a lot for your help. I did not know the link you proposed.

In what kind of database are you storing that data?
There are tools available to connect Outlook to a database solution.
See http://addins.howto-outlook.com/genius_connect
Connecting directly to the data used in the custom database would be great.
The application is based on flat files containing data, there is no
relational database below it. So I will have to sync those flat files (ie.
csv) to outlook. After a first short look at the link you proposed I am not
sure if that application can sync flat files (csv type).

Am I wrong? Do you have some further ideas for synchronizing csv files to
outlook?

Many thanks and kind regards,
Christian

I don't know of such a way. Note that flat files don't really scale that
well. Why not use a real database solution? When it's small, SQL Express
Edition or even MS Access will suffice and will give you lots more options
to work efficiently with your data.

Hi Robert

Thanks a lot for your help. I will have a look at the possibility to use SQL
Express.

Kind regards
Christian
