Nicolas Solop

Hello Guys,

I have one user that is far away from our office and is
getting the error 80004005-501 "Client operation failed"
when he tries to synchronize his outlook 2000 client.
On our office we have a Exchange 5.5 SP3 running on
Windows 2000 server.
If you have any idea of which the problem is, please let
me know.

Sorry about my English!
Nicolas.

Hi Nicolas,

If the issue only occurs on the one remote user, I suggest you double-check
the network connection method. After Blaster, many ISPs have blocked 135
port, please try VPN to the Exchange server and check the issue again.

Also, this behavior can occur if you are using the third-party anti-virus
software. I suggest you refer to the suggestions below:

" Disable VAPI on the Exchange server.
" Switch to MAPI on the Anti-Virus.

In addition, please refer to the two Knowledge Base articles:

264731 XADM: MAPI-Based Tasks Do Not Work with Virus API Anti-Virus
Software -- http://support.microsoft.com/?id=264731

317953 OL: You Cannot Move, Synchronize, or AutoArchive Messages --
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=317953

Hope it helps!

Best regards,
