Sync problems with Pocket PC and Vista/Outlook2007

I have installed Vista Business and Outlook2007 and the new sync app, WDMC.

Using an Ipaq 2215, the device is reconized and the according to Vista, the
device sync's successfully. But when I go to my calendar in Outlook2007, it
appears it did not sync. There are calendar entries in the PocketPC that do
not show up in Outlook.

I am not a newbie to this setup, been using it for years with XP and Outlook
2003. Probably a setting somewhere but I can't find any info on it with a
search.

Anyone else run into this and find a fix?

Thanks

Paul

Try this:

Unplug your device
Uninstall WDMC
Reboot
Reinstall WDMC
Reboot
While the device is still disconnected, remove all partnerships from it
Reconnect the device after the final reboot - NOT BEFORE!

This usually resolves issues where the device is not recognized when
plugging in.

Richard,
Tried your ideas, in fact, tried it twice, still no joy.

The device is recognized, it backs up, it says it is sync'd. Does all the
things it should. Except it won't show the new appointments on Desktop
Outlook2007.

I have checked all categories, labels and filters to make sure something
wasn't getting blocked there.

Tried making an appoint on the Desktop while the PocketPC was connected.
Immediately resync'd and it didn't see the change.

Yet it reports sync successful

Ideas?

Paul

Not my field, but as I have a PPC playing nicely with WMDC.... If it's
syncing with no errors, then I would assume the appointments are going
somewhere. Is it mistakenly syncing to Outlook 2003 instead of 2007? Or
Windows Calendar?

I thought the same thing. Checked Windows Calendar - its not going there.
2003 is not on this machine now so it isn't going there.

On the phone with MS Support for 3 hrs this am. We can see that files are
getting sync'd to the folder on the desktop but everything else is going to
never never land. Changes on PDA aren't recordedn to Outlook, changes on
Outlook aren't recorded to PDA. But Vista says Sync is fine - no errors.

We've tried a manual uninstall of Outlook, reinstall and repair but still
same issues. Tried different profile and still same issues. Tried different
user and still same issues.

I've had exactly the same problem. I get an error screen come up saying
"Synchronisation cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the
network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and
synchronise again. If the problem persits, contact your network
administrator." I am the only user and am the administrator!
It's a new machine, only has Outlook/Office 2007 on it. Have tried
reinstalling, as one other post suggested; no change. I'm using McAfee, and
have tried with the firewall diabled, but this made no difference.
Ideas please!

I am having the exact problem. Get same error message. The HP Ipaq 1955
connects but no sync. HP handheld dept says they don;t support Vista and HP
computer (my new computer with vista Home premium) says to call Microsoft and
Microsoft says to call HP and .....
I have seen several suggestions to disable Microsoft One way of something
like that (some firewall program) but that is not on my system. I also saw to
set Windows Firewall to automatic but i can';t find that setting. I have
also tried to reinstall the manager but that did not help. I have not yet
hard reset my ipaq but probably will soon if I can;t find any other solution.
I have about 3 things that don;t work in Vista and this really sucks
jp

Someone else had suggested it was a firewall problem. I've tried switching
off both the Windows firewall and my McAfee one, but neither seemd to fix the
problem.

I agree. I've had just so much trouble with a new PC with Vista. Got most
problems fixed now, but what with this sync problems, and with both my mouse
and my network connection to my laptop both only working intermittently I
wish I'd stuck with Windows 2000!

Good luck.
