Hi,
I Have a windows 98 operating system as a standalone system. I just
Right clicked desktop---->display---->TrueColor------>"Last option".
(The options consisted of '300 * 400', '400 * 600' etc)
After doing that my desk top has gone blank with message as "SYNC OUT OF
RANGE" . How do I get back my desktop . I tried out lot of things like
restarting it and running in safe mode but I couldn't solve it.

I shall really appreciate if anyone can help me out.

Thanks
ram

You write "I Have a windows 98 operating system as a standalone
system." Why would you post your question in a Win2000 newsgroup?

Restart your computer in Safe mode.
Set the video to 640X480, 256 colors.@ 60 cycles.
Restart in regular mode.
Reset the video to your preferred mode.
Avoid that "last" setting, your monitor can't synch at that setting.

hi,

How do I set my vedio to '680 x 480' 256 colors @60cycles in safe mode.
while trying to run in safe mode after certain period its showing the same
message
"SYNC OUT OF RANGE".
I am not getting the desktop after running in safe mode, it directly
displays the same message

Thanks
Ram

hi,
I am extremely sorry for posting this message in windows 2000 as I had
no other alternative as Microsoft has stopped support for windows 98 , so I
thought anyone with knowledge of windows 2000 will surely help me out.
I appreciate if you come up with certain solution for my problem.

Thanks
Ram
