There should be a show/hide button at the top of the Word display. In some versions of
Word, that button is hidden under one of the down arrows. The show/hide button sort of
looks like a backwards "P." When the button is in the down position, you can see the
paragraph, space, and tab symbols. When the button is in the up position, that stuff
disappears.

Thank you, I only wish I would have found out sooner, it's been driving me crazy. ha ha on me.

Note also that you don't have to choose between having all the
non-printing symbols off and having them all on. Word has a very handy
ShowPara symbol which enables you to toggle just the paragraph symbol
(which I think is indispensable all the time) while leaving unseen all
the other stuff, like the space symbols. You can access this in
Customize Keyboards dialog box (Tools, Customize Keyboard), by choosing
All Commands in the left pane, and ShowPara in the right, and assigning
a keystroke to ShowPara.
