Symantec Norton Internet Security 2007 Alerts

When I disable a NIS2007 function (like phishing filter, or email scanning
for example) the Norton icon on the taskbar displays an exclamation point,
letting me know that my system is not fully protected. This happens even if
I have configured the XP Phishing filter to be on!.

Is there any way to tell NIS2007 that since I configured this function to be
off, purposely (and am using the built in XP program instead) NOT to display
this "not protected" insignia all the time? Why doesn't it just display the
normal green check mark since I have purposely configured not to use certain
functions?

Anyone?

No.

Norton does not like to relinquesh control to anyone. And just try to
uninstall it.It does like that much either.

Yeah, I did try to uninstall it, so I could to reinstall to fix a botched
installation. I got caught in an infinite loop (uh... I'll finish upon
reboot, rebooted, uh... I'll finish upon reboot, rebooted, uh... I'll finish
upon reboot... etc. etc.). Anyway, I had to use the "uninstall magic bullet"
from the Symantec site to finally get it uninstalled. Then I reinstalled it
properly (client had screwed it up big time).

Anyway this was not my machine. It was one of my client's machines. He
bought NIS2007 and I wanted to configure it to be as least obtrusive as
possible while using built-in OS functions for the things that I could.
Certainly I could do that, but the damn NIS kept saying that the machine was
"not fully protected". Just what you want a client to see and have them be
confused. Bottom line, I let Norton have its way (email scanning included!)
just to prevent these stupid warning messages. What the hell, the client
bought it, not me! LOL!

Just look at it as job-protection! He'll be back with the machine to
have you fix it again. lol
