Has anyone received a message from Symantec appear on their screen. Titled:
Error"10,87 One or more arguments are invalid" If you click on it 3 pages of instructions appear.
Is this genuine or is it sinister?

Error 1087 is a symantec "fatal" error ... play slow death-march music here ... Module semantic error in cross-referencing, specific to neither SNMPv1 nor SNMPv2C. A symbol imported from a module does not resolve to anything in that module. If that symbol is actually referenced in the MIB, this error occurs.

Is this genuine or is it sinister?
It's real ... I didn't make it up, only symantec can do that. :D

You want to keep norton, then un-instal & re-install ... you want a better AV program, go get Anti-vir, it's free too. :thumb:

See my comments in the post "Security software that just works? " in this forum. I have had Norton go wrong on me like this so many times I now would always recomend removing it and replacing it as soon as it starts to play up.
