Never saw his reply,
trouble is, I don't have the CD.

Uninstall your Symantec product, then download and
install the following:

If you downloaded the Norton installer from the Internet and still have
the installer, you can use that. If you paid for Norton over the
Internet, you can contact Symantec with your purchase details and have
them replace the installation media.

If none of the above is true and you just lost your CD, then you'll need
to buy it again. However, you will have a hard time finding techs who
don't *sell* Norton products who will *recommend* Norton products so
bear that in mind. In any case, you're going to need to thoroughly
uninstall the Norton product and replace it with some antivirus
program, Norton or otherwise.

The symantec product comes in two methods - direct download or via CD,
if you got the CD version, why don't you still have it? If you
downloaded it and deleted it, you can still download it for up to 30
days from their download site (unless you purchased the extended
download option).

So, were you installing a pirated version that went wrong?
