Hello

I just started using sygate personnal fire wall again, and am once
again impressed how transparent and easy to use it is. I can get kerio
to work, but I just find it so easy to use sygate. My system is
reasonabley complicated , with net connections to a prismiq media
server,a dsl connect through a router, and other misc. computers
about the house.

The one thing that gfive me pause its it is not listed on
pricelesswarehome.org. Was it lsted in earlier years? Is there some
fatal flaw?

I did hear about a problem with proxy servers, but i've been running
it in conjunction with switchproxy on firefox, without problem ( I
proably misunderstood)

There's a lot of great competition. . .

Kerio hard? Haven't used sygate, but Kerio is only as hard as the rules
you make for it. Helped me learn firewall skills. That said, I don't
even use a firewall anymore. Or antivirus. Gee, I only have "startup
monitor" by Mike Lin. If you happen to hack into my system, please be
kind... take what you want, just leave me a copy. Yes, someday I may
get smoked, but I'll probably have saved time and trouble.

Hey, nice songs...
"Roots Manuva - Clockwork"
"Sade - By Your Side"

I just think it's either not been nominated previously, or perhaps
didn't garner enough votes to make the list. If no one beats me to it
I plan to nominate Sygate this year. Be sure to come back and cast
your vote for it.

The possible problem is not only can people potentially
get/delete/change your files but if they get access to your system
they can use it as a zombie. Sending millions of spam messages from
your IP. Not so good if people reply to *you* and/or you are
disconnected from your ISP as a spammer.

Regards, John.

I'm going to be irresponsible and take the risk. If I ever get hacked
I'll publicly announce it and say "John told me so". Another point of
view is that you cannot live in constant fear. Yet another is "do not
resist evil with actions" or whatever the Quaker value is. Somewhere in
the middle must be the right balance? I am not God to say.

You do make a good point though.

I have a choice :

(1) Put locks on the doors of my house, and use them.

(2) Don't put locks on.

Guess which of the two reduces my fear ?

I guess you are going to say that you leave your car unlocked.
Because you cannot live in constant fear of someone stealing it.

Yea.....right. :-)
