Sygate and avast

I have Sygate PF and avast VS. I get a message saying
"avast had problems downloading updates" (for automatic
download). I can manually download. What gives?

Avast and Sygate do not get along very well.There is a loopback issue.
Try using another firewall(a hardware solution would be best).

This only happens on my WinXP Pro/SP2 machine; Win2k Pro/SP4
is ok, with similar setup. I do have a h/w firewall to, but that's only good
for incoming attaccks, and not for outbound messages.

I use Avast and Sygate together and haven't had any problems at all. Avast
downloads come through automatically every time.
