I have just had my hard drive overhauled and when I added my secondary uers
back, I am now unable to switch from my secondary users (limited) to myself
(administrator). I can switch to them from me but can NOT switch from them TO
me. I get an error message "Mode not supported" and underneath in small print
the following: H: 53.6KHZ V:84.9HZ. Can someone help me? thank you.
The "mode" message is referring to video mode. Possibly display settings
but more likely to the refresh settings for the monitor. Check from both
accounts, what desktop size and what refresh setting is being used. Make
sure settings for both of those categories are within the limits of the
display adapter *and* the monitor.
NOTE: I run a two monitor setup with a dual head card on a test system. I
occasionally see this message on it. It occurs when video modes are
switched - during startup, for example, when the VGA mode drivers unload
and the drivers for the hardware take over. If the video hook fails during
that switch - the message appears.
I already know that the settings I'm using are within the limitations of my
hardware so for now, I switch the monitor's power off and then turn it back
on. Display is fine at this point.
Of course, the ultimate goal will be to stop the message from appearing at
all but I suspect that won't happen until the display drivers that I'm
using get the kinks worked out of them.
So, the other suggestion would be to check for updates for your display
drivers. If available, give them a try.
