firstly before swapping the drive do the following :-
my computer/properties/hardware/devise manager
find your removable device and then go to properties and see if you have a
tick box for "removable device" - might be worth ticking it if you can.
pull out your device and insert the new one, go back to device manager and
right click your computer name (at the top) and select "scan for hardware
changes"
This will then scan your system and reconfigure the changed devises.
really you should disable the active device in the system through devise
manager before really and then pull it out, then insert the new one and scan
for hardware changes, but that is the long winded and safer way.
