Switching programs in presenter view

How do you switch programs in presenter view. When I do this, the slide still
shows on the external display and I cannot get the selected program to
sisplay. The option to Switch Programs does not do anything. Thank you.
 
While in presenter mode, depress the Alt key. While holding it down, depress
the Tab key. A display of open programs will be displayed. Keep holding the
Alt key down and press the Tab key as many times as it takes to select the
other program you want to view... and then release the Alt and Tab keys. To
return to your presentation, do the same thing. I've used this often and it
works fine.
 
... by the way, the Switch Programs option opens the taskbar at the bottom of
the page showing all open programs... much like the Alt-Tab option does.
You would select the program you want to switch to from the taskbar, and
switch back to the presentation the same way. Both methods work fine. I
prefer the Alt-Tab method as being less keystrokes.

Thank you for your quick reply. I can get the program to switch on my
monitor, but not on the external LCD diplay. Only the powerpoint slide shows
on it. I am using a tablet PC Dell latitude XT.
 
I am in presenter view. I can switch programs on my monitor, but the new
program does not show on the external display--only the PowerPoint slide. Any
ideas? I am using a Dell latitude xt tablet pc. Thanks a lot.
 
You will have to drag the program's window onto the external monitor and
manually resize it for the proper dimensions (don't use the maximize button
on the program's window.) When in presenter mode once the image is dragged
across you can then use the Alt/Tab method of switching between the program
and the presentation's PPT window. Since you will see at least 4 icons on
the Alt/Tab window you need to find the proper one to get the view back on
the screen and the one for your program will be obvious (probably.)
