Switching hard drives

I'm buying a new computer w/o an OS and I was wondering
if I could switch the HDD in it with the HDD from my old
computer which already has Windows XP. I heard from
TechTV though, that if Windows XP finds too much new
hardware at one time, it won't let you use Windows
anymore or something like that. Can I do it or not?

XP is product activated based on componets on the motherboard. Moving hard
drives to different computer, the motherboard will be changing. However, by
done an XP repair install will fix the XP and allow you to get a new product
activation. Internet activation should work, but only after 120 days since
the last request.
