I have a ATI AIW 9600 Pro -> going to 9800 AIW Pro... I have the 5.12
non-Cat drivers/9.08 MMC Installed...

Can I just swap cards? Should I uninstall anything first?

You have to uninstall and reinstall your drivers otherwise you will have
problems. When you install drivers, it will only install the drivers for
the particular card you have.

Over the years, I've read advice given by some here that all you need to do
is swap the cards in a case like this. And I've even know of cases where
this worked without a hitch. But I've know far more where it caused
stability and performance issues. Uninstall the drivers and reinstall them
after swapping.

When I replaced my 8500 (noisy fan) with a cheap 9550, all I did was
re-install the drivers on top of what I already had.

I am going to replace the card and boot into VGA Mode on XP...that will
allow the card to be recognized and the drivers installed over the XP VGA
ones... that should work- I'll report back and let everyone know.
