I have a new Hard Drive I am wanting to install however my problem is
this. When i got my comp as a gift it was a sony vaio walmart comp.
windows os was already on it and i dont have disks for it or for other
things i have on that i dont want to lose. The comp already has a
master C:/ and a slave D:/ drive. is there a way i can replace the C
drive with my new drive without having to reinstall or lose any data?
essentially just transferring the contents of the old master to the new
one?
thanks

Many drive manufacturers include software with their disks to do what you
want. You could also purchase imaging/copy products like Ghost,
Acronis,etc.

thanks for the help so far now upon acrtually getting into matters
realised what sony had done when building the comp is take a singl
hard drive and partition it into a c and a d now using acronis it keep
trying to clone the partitions as well I dont want to partition th
new drive especially because the partitioning seems backwards to m
since the c partition is smaller by far. I just need the data from th
c(os and settings and all that jazz) to put onto my new drive so i ca
reformat and repartition the old drive so i have two unpartitione
drives. Any help here would be appreciated. I need a way to just ge
the data from the C to put onto the new HD. thanks all.
