Switchboard

I don't really like the whole switchboard format. It seems awkward and not
at all like the usual way of navigating. Is it possible to create a form
that would always be maximized - even though the other forms are not - with a
series of controls on top that would either open a form directly or have a
drop down menu list? What I'm looking for is more of a workspace environment
that would allow easy access to any/all forms/reports at any given time. I'm
hoping this isn't beyond my expertise. I'm really just learning, but with
simple (detailed?) instructions, I can usually find my way. Thank you for
any help!

Try this:

-Create a form without control box, and without border (form/Properties)
this will look like a splash form, make this the first form you open and you
can put your logo and other info, no buttons or anything else.
-Create a custom menu bar (right click on a menu and select customize) and
add menus for File, Edit, records, help, etc.
-In the new File menu create submenus grouping your forms, print, export and
exit options,
-Add your forms to your file menu (drag and drop from the customize menu
window) so they are available no matter what form is open,
-On every form call this menu (form/properties/other/menu bar)
-You could also create one or multiple custom toolbar and call it from your
forms (form/properties/other/Toolbar)

Thank you for your suggestion. It's similar to what I've tried so far with
the addition of the blank form. I've created a custom toolbar which
navigates the way I like, but I was hoping for a method of larger, more
obvious buttons - I'd like them a little jazzier!
