Switchboard/macros, query not prompting for input

I have a switchboard button that calls a macro, that in turn opens a report
based on a select query. The query will prompt for a value. On one computer
the macro will not work -- the prompt from the query never gets displayed.
This happens on any of the buttons where a macro opens a report. Other
macros work, such as one that exits out of Access. I have macro security
set to low. Access 2003, Windows XP. This application works on all other
computers. Latest Jet engine is in place. Why will the prompt not display?
It seems like the macro is not allowed to open the report/query. The macro
does not display the prompt when I run it manually on this specific machine,
but like I said other macro's work. ????

I ran into this problem myself. I tried several things and nothing prompted
me to the source of the "Action Failed" on a macro that opens a report. For
example, I checked the user access, checked if the login User Name didn't
changed, check the Access resources on that PC, recreated shortcut, condensed
and rebuild Access App, checked if the printer default is set. I have last 2
steps available to me:
- check if the user can run the report from different PC signed as herself
- reinstall the MS Office 2003 on user's PC.
If this doesn't work I don't know what to do. I checked newsgroups and I ran
into your email.

A reinstall did not help unfortunately. And yes the user could use the app on
a different machine, and I could use it on her machine, so at that point I
realized it might be related to her profile. However I did find a solution.
We deleted the user's folder from C:\Documents and Settings. Then removed the
user's profile from the computer. Rebooted, re-added the user as an
administrator on that PC, and then the problem went away. I assume this
cleared up whatever mess was there. I later found this also happened on 4
other machines. No common link to why only these machines.
As a side note, in all the cases, the user could create a table in Access,
but they could not create a report or view an existing report in design
view...it just wouldn't display, and no error message. So for now just
follow the steps above and hopefully it works.
