Hi: I am a teacher in a computer lab. 35 dells running
windows 2000. Question-Is there a switch I can purchase
to install maybe at my hub that will enable me to
temporaily shut off internet access but maintain my
network for printing etc. Using Novell

My SMC Barricade Router has a similar feature to what you are suggesting.

Its not an official "off" button but you can set what ports you want to
allow to the network and then just uncheck a box in the remote access panel
and disable them all.

Any switch/router that you can allow/disallow ports should do the job for
you.

Just re-read what you said,

Where you use the term "switch" i take it you mean physical "switch".
In my post I refer to a switch as the networking component called a switch.
This is basically the same as a hub, it just limits what data is sent where,
reducing the amount of unnecessarily sent data.

Sorry for the confusion
