SWF file not showing content on IE6

Hi

We've uninstalled Adobe flash player & also Macromedia flash player then
reinstalled it. We've tried to run the SWF file with only one of these
installed. We've checked IE settings etc as well. We've got 2 computers that
allow us to view the SWF file (not website) but on another it won't show
anything after we've allowed active-x to run. When we click on the SWF file
IE alert bar comes up on top then we activate it & all we get is a blank
white screen with no error messages either. Bottom left shows 'Done' so it
isn't hanging or failing to load.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Marcus

It is my understanding that Adobe took over Macomedia flash.
Why do you talk as though they are a different program?
Which did you reinstall?

Hi,

Looks like Adobe has taken over Macromedia Flash then. We have both old
(M-media) & the new (Adobe) flash versions installed. These are not
conflicting in anyway as we've tried to open the SWF file on a couple of
other computers & they work. While this issue appeared firstly on a laptop I
had my friend open it up on his PC & it did the same thing & just showed a
blank white screen.

In Internet Explorer under Tools>Manage add ins... on the computers that
it's worked ok on, it shows that flash9b.ocx is up & running on IE. While
even with Flash installed, the ones that don't come up has no indication that
flash is running in IE.

In IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Security section.
Check by "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer", click Apply,
click Okay. If the file is local, right click on the file, choose
Properties, then Unblock.

Reimaged workstation & that fixed whatever it was that was stopping it from
showing. The other guy who had the same problem was messing around with this
regedit stuffed his OS up & had to do the same thing. Gotta find another PC
with the same issue to check out what was the real cause. After the
reinstall, I didn't install Adobe Flash player & the SWF file came ok.
