As a novice, I posted to several newsgroups last week with an un-munged
email address. Before posting, my incoming Swen infected emails were down
to one every two hours. Since posting they are back up to 5 to 10 per
hour. Lesson learned: Mung your address. Here is how to do it.

There has been a lot of controversy over whether or not munging your address
does any good. Personally, I have found that it has little impact once you
email address has been harvested. And I have no explanation for the ups and
downs in the following Swen statistics to my account (which in your words is
munged).
Initial 2 weeks - 500/day
Sep. 26 - 298
Sep. 27 - 213
Sep. 28 - 217
Sep. 29 - 164

No shit Sherlock. Here's another clue. The purpose of munging is so
that your address doesn't get harvested.

Read the original post in this thread, where the OP suggested that
munging your address AFTER you start receiving swen (which assumes
your address has been harvested) may slow down of prevent swen emails.

I disagree, as does the poster above, it would appear.

You do realize that your return address belongs to a valid domain
don't you? And as that is the case, the owner of that domain is going
to be receiving spam and swen on your behalf.
Please see http://members.aol.com/emailfaq/mungfaq.html for proper
ways to mung your email address.
