I bought another another used PIII-NTFS-W2K (call it PC1
and HD1) and I wanted to swap HD with another machine with
PII-NTFS-W2K (call it PC2 and HD2). All cable select.
Both machines will boot perfectly with HD1 installed.
However, only PC2 will boot with HD2. PC1 gives a disk
error on boot. When I put HD1 back into PC1, and install
HD2 in PC1 as slave, the machine boots, recognizes HD2,
and is happy to work with it, but it won't boot off it.
I could understand if neither machine would boot with the
other's HD, but I can't understand one yes and one no.
Any suggestions to make PC1 boot with HD2?
Thanks.

.
You can install in pc1 and make second configuration.
edit the tree of anything that isnt on pc2 and then remove
and install it in pc2.
When you boot up menu asks which configuration to use,
pick 2 and it will set up for pc2. But this doesnt allow
you to use installed programs. You would have to reinstall
most programs to use them correctly.
