What is the general consensus about having a swap file on a raid 5 array and
what reasons can you give for why you would or would not do it.

Really depends on your resources. In general, there is no good reason to put
a page file on a RAID 5 array. If you have the resources keep your 3+ disks
for your raid 5 array strictly to data. Stick the page file on either your
OS drive or increase performance by placing it on a separate drive entirely.
Keep in mind if you decide to put your page file on a drive other than the
one your OS is located on you will not be able to capture a memory.dmp file
for troubleshooting a bugcheck.

Thanks for the thoughts
