Hi
Last week I updated windows2000 with SP3. After doing that
I updated IE5 to IE5.5. Since then, when I start IE and
going to Google and click on a link nothing happens, but I
get an error from windows saying that svchost has
generated errors and will be closed.
What is happening and how can I correct/prevent this.
(Please respond using email)

Hi Toon

This looks to me like you have been infected with the MS Blaster Worm. Pleas
do the following immediately:

1: Download the Security Fix for Windows 2000 that secures your System from
here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...46-F541-4C15-8C9F-220354449117&displaylang=en

then install the Update.

2: If you have an AV Application installed on your PC ensure that its
definitions are up to date and then scan your system and remove the Worm. If
you have no AV App on your PC then get this free Tool from Symantec to
remove the Worm:

- "W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool"

http://www.symantec.ca/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html

and remove the Worm.

3: Restart your PC and the problem should be resolved.

All you need to know how to protect your from the MS Blaster Worm can be
read here:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
