I am using Win2000 and Office XP and had almost no
problems. Mainly I am using a DSL line with no issues. In
the last two weeks every time I am using my AT&T dailer
after few seconds of being conected an error message about
SVChost.exe file is causing a problem. Once it shows up
all the office applications are not working.
Any one heard about it?

Thx
Shay

Shay,

It seems like our computer was suffering the
same "illness". And it's not just the svchost.exe error
but it also seems to affect our ability to drag and drop
files in Windows Explorer or even Outlook. Plus, once this
error message has appreared, we can't seem to close down
our dial-up connection. Only a reboot will rectify this.
So we first upgraded our Win2000 from SP2 to SP4 as well
as from IE5.0 to IE6.0. Neither did the trick. Then I read
a few posted messages about the w32.blaser.worm which
included the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-026 which
Marina mentions. I have installed even this patch and run
a "fix it" tool from my anti-virus provider to search out
my files for any worm infestation. It came back negative.
So, now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that all these
updates and patches will have solved our problem. Only
time will tell......
