If you installed NAV and didn't install the virus updates it will not
detect viruses which came out after the NAV CD was cut.

Besides, NAV will detect and disable any viruses but it may not
totally remove them. You will need to look up the virus on the
Symantec Website and follow the removal instructions.

Do the following: Go to START--RUN-- and enter the
following: (without the quotes) "%windir%\system32\drivers"
Cursor down the list and you will undoubtedly find a
SVCHOST file. DELETE it and then reboot your computer. you
should not see this error message again. By the way, this
is a virus. If you are running Symantec's Norton anti-
virus software, go to their website and you can find this
same information on how to get rid of the SCVHOST problem.

Hope this helps

Warning:

Do NOT delete this file in any OTHER locations.

If it is found in the location that Frank suggests, yes, it may be a
virus, but a better course would be to disconnect from the Internet,
update Nortons (with a virus defs file downloaded via an uninfected
machine| and follow the instructions on the Smantec site.

And make sure you have the latest service pack -- sp 4 I believe if you are
using windows 2000 professional.

Yes. Either the latest SP + any subsequent patches OR another SP + any
subsequent patches.

Cliff
