svchost.exe

I am using Windows 2000 and Internet exploer 5.0.

An error message keeps popping up when I'm on line...

"svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows. need to restart program. error log is created,
press OK".

When this happens then I can't log off of the internet, I
have to shut down the computer. Any Ideas?
