The problem is when I start up my pc after logon it hangs for about 1 minute.
For that time CPU usage is 100%. When I end the process in the Taskmanager
for the running svchost.exe which causes this problem after about 30 seconds
my desktop changes the Taskbar. Normally I have it on double height but
then it changes back to standard. Can someone tell me what might be wrong?
I am running XP Pro SP2.

You should not be ending Svchost.exe in the Task Manager. This is a generic process that acts as a host for other services running in XP. Each instance of this component may be responsible for running multiple services on the system. Multiple entries for this process might be present in the Task Manager list.

If you are experiencing problems with this component, svchost is also associated with certain malware programs and virus. See the following link for more information.

Well, closing down Svchost.exe, or at least the one which caused the hanging,
helped me waiting to continue faster.

I already suspected malware or a virus but nor my virus scanner nor my
spyware checkers didn't find anything. I decided to install Hitman Pro and
then I found out there was a windowslogonhook or something :S. I was fighting
a whole afternoon to get rid off it and then decided to do a reinstall. With
succes so far :)
