I downloaded an automatic update from Microsoft today...

When my system reboots...this is the error message which
I receive and the system wants to shut down...

scvhost.exe error

I restart and nothing...I get to the XP window where the
coloured lines race across the little box under
Windows...and nothing...

I can not even get into my restore...

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP...please!

Hi,

If you spelled the error message correctly (scvhost.exe, like it reads in
your post), then you have a virus, read:
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32agobott.html

If you actually meant svchost.exe (svchost.exe, like your title reads), then
see if you can access Safe mode by depressing and holding the <ctrl> key as
the system first begins to load Windows.
