I see I"m not the only one with this problem. I've done a
clean install but no luck. I was picking up a worm called
Lovsan.A for a while. My AVG would heal it but it would
pop up again after being on line with in 1-2 min. Now I
just keep getting svchost.exe AGAIN !! Any ideas ?

Download and install the patch from Microsoft to fix the RPC vunerability.
Hopefully this will fix it.

I experienced the same problem on a Dell laptop. It also
disturbed the communication between the different office
programs when not on line. I had to reboot all the time. I
decided that the file svchost.exe was corrupted and choose
to do a repair installation of the system, but that did
not solve the problem. It just generated another head ace
after a second try with a clean install (repair) I was
prompted for the string to a product catalogue file
named "nt5inf.cat" The installation would not proceed
without it, some guru must know how and where I'm
certainly not one, I just replaced the hard drive with
another and installed the Millennium edition. Conclusion:
The new editions are more vulnerable. The 2000
professional edition just have to wait until I'm able to
fix it.

In case you get a good tip please let me know.
