XP Pro sp2
On boot-up:
"The instruction at Ox636f1e21 referenced memory at Ox636f1e21. The memory
could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Click Cancel to
de-bug.
Have spent four hours trying to resolve this issue. Checked Task Manager,
and svchost appears to be using an inordinate amount of memory! Checked
Knowledgebase Articles with little result.
Have Automatic Updates turned on, and updates are loaded when the pc shuts
down. This appears to be a new issue, as I used to receive a message asking
me if I wanted to install the updates. Since the "update installation on
shut-down" issue, have received the svchost.exe error message.
Have checked validity of Microsoft updates (using Belarc Advisor), which
reported no problems.
Earlier KBA sugested it may be a problem within Media Player. Looking at
Properties, it appears the prog was modified today at the time I re-booted.
Can anyone help on this, or sugegst how I resolve the very frustrating
problem?
Thank you.
