When i start my pc i have about full cpu, but after about 15 minutes im losing about 25% to some svchost.exe. After about an hour or two i lose between 50% and 60% for one and around another 30% on another. I read the article mentioned before http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314056 but it did nothing but show me a screen i did not understand. I even whent into my administrative stuff and turned off some of my more useless services. I have run adware 6 and removed a bunch of stuff with that. Yet i can not get rid of the svchost problem. When i just shut it down i have problems running software. I have a amd athalon 1800+ (1.53 Ghz), 1 gig of ram, and am running xp profesional. any sugestions. THis seems to be a common problem so why is there no posted solution yet? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

.
Sorry Nick but you have a virus
http://search.symantec.com/custom/us/query.html

do you know what virus i have? why do you think that i have one? Is this common to one? will symantic antivirus pick it up if i scan (trying currently). By the way the svshost is a system and local service username.

Go to the link I provided in my first post and type in
svchost.exe
Also svchost.exe is a valid windows program however ther
is a virus that hides itself by using this name.
the windows svchost.exe resides in your system32 folder
the virus resides in your windows folder
go here and type it in. Good luck

The normal svchost.exe will not use nearly that much cpu%

i have an up to date symantec antivirus and i scanned my entire harddrive and found no viruses. I have run adware 6 and that did not fix it. It has been suggested that i try and streamline my windows xp. Is there a good web page to go to to find out how to do this. If anybody else has had this problems, which is sounds like is the case, please tell me how you fixed it. than
