Sustem Restore

I had a tech at Verizon do a hard reset on my PDA (Treo 650) due to a
software issue. He then told me to hot sync it again. Well he did not tell
me to switch the command to desktop overrides the PDA and since the PDA was
empty of knowledge, now my desk top is empty. I was told I could do a system
restore and go back to a point in time, and get this desktop stuff back. I
went through the System Restore Wizard. It even said, after I selected a
date, that the restore was complete. The problem is that the date did not
come back. What can I do????
