I kept getting a file named '~' with 496KB appear in my C: drive. I've
already updated the latest Norton virus definition file and check for
spyware with 4 different products but can't figure out the cause.

Anyone experience this as well?

It's a 'feature' of one of the Microsoft patches. Delete it whenever it
shows up. Harmless.

I get something like that putting an icon on my desktop which I consign
promptly to the recycle bin. k35454.

It's a bug in MS-OE. Rename "toto.wab" and you will see a copy of your
Windows Address Book.

It's a backup of the Windows address book which OE uses. It's supposed
to be deleted by OE but it doesn't always happen.

It is a bug in Outlook Express. The '~' file is a copy of you Windows Address Book. If you
rename it TEST.WAB you will be able to see your address book.

Just delete the file.
