Hey,
I cannot get SUS to run with Group Policy, below is what I have
done, can anyone tell me if this looks ok>

I have set up SUS server and can autoupdate from clients when I manually
edit their registry, I have a lot of clients so I need to roll this registry
setting out to all of them using an GP.

I created a security group called AutoUpdate and added the machines I wanted
to update, I then added the sus admin templated and set the AU to enable and
set the IP address of the SUS server, I then applied this, but nothing
happens, when I disable the control panel element this propigates to the
clients but nothing else.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

If the clients are XP/W2K with latest service packs, you should not have to
go through all that. See the link below on how to configure. There is also a
dedicated software update newsgroup if you continue to have problems. The
computers need to reside in the container - domain/OU within the scope of
influence of the GPO you created. For instance if you created that policy in
a OU GPO, then the computers that you want the autoupdates to be configured
on need to live in that OU or sub OUs. Gpresult can help troubeshoot policy
application problems. --- Steve

We had this same sort of problem with XP Pro clients.
The fix ended up being a rename of %systemroot%\system32
\catroot2 on the client PCs. Apparently, there was some
sort of corruption with that directory. Renaming it
enabled Windows to create a new one and then they started
updating like they were supposed to.

If you don't have a fix yet, good luck!
