In order to use SUS and have updates automatically install do the users of
the PC have to have admin rights? I have read in the SUSOverview.doc that
"Automatic Updates is a proactive pull service that enables users with
ADMINISTRATIVE privileges to automatically download and install Windows
updates such as critical operating-system fixes and Windows security
patches". However after further reading it sounds like that if you schedule
updates then the client will download the updates and install them with a
non-admin user logged in (it will just warn the user that the computer is
about to restart if it needs to). Is this correct? We are looking for a
way to keep our Windows 2000 and XP system updated with updates and I am
wandering if this will do what we need. Our users do not have Admin rights,
only some of our IT people do.
Thanks,
Brent
