"Survey" on Bypass Traverse Checking -
Where I work we have about 200 Windows 2000 servers but we're not on
AD yet (still using NT4 for our user domain). SOP here is that Bypass
Traverse Checking is disabled on all Windows servers. This makes it
fairly difficult to set up and maintain general-purpose file and web
servers, for use by all the different groups we have, because we have
to set the rights exlpicitly on each folder. I've even read
(somewhere) that Microsoft recommends against disabling BTC.
Does anyone else disable Bypass Traverse Checking ? What are the
reasons and/or ramifications of disabling BTC ?
Thanks !
