Since installing Service Pack 2 on my new Dell Microsoft
Windows XP Home, my computer surges once in a while for a
second or so. I'm plugged into a Dynex surger for
protection. Since I have a router, my Windows firewall
is turned off except for some exception (I have a remote
connection since I am networked to my husband's
computer.) Any ideas on how I can fix this so I don't
have any surges?

Surges? Power surges? I'd suggest this is a hardware problem.

Explain what you mean by surges... how are you detecting this?

It's more likely that power surges are caused by your home's electrical
system... and if you have decent protection then you should be ok. You
could call an electrician to look at the wiring in your house.
