surferbar?

Hi, I could use the help of someone who knows. I have two
problems I could really use help with.

1. Surferbar.com...somehow by search for surfing info I
stumbled across this site. Now it has taken over my
browser. It has installed itself as the homepage (this I
can fix) but it also put a toolbar on my browser, not
sure how it did this but it is also obscene and I would
like it remove...any clues?

2. also how do I stop pop-up ads?
