Surely 16bit apps do run on vista.

MS Bob installs and runs fine on Vista, no problems.

So does Word 6.0,Excel 5.0 and Powerpoint 4.0 to stay in the 90's Apps..

All 16bit Apps will work in Vista as long as support for 16bit software has
not been DISabled via gpedit.msc, there is an item to check that does the
magic.

Also the NTVDM ( virtual DOS / 16bit subsystem )must be very alive and not
disabled ( some tweaking soft for vista tries to do so )

By default all 16bit support is ENabled and that you will need to run the MS
Megaflop of all times, BOB ( "an intuitive Interface for PCs running Windows
3.11 or Windows 95" ... ),the above Office products ( from Office 4.x for
Win 3.x) or whatever antique diskettes you are trying to run in and on
Vista.

But don't worry that there is no right-clicks available, Win 3.x was not
able to handle that and so will Vista imitate this behaviour by making the
Apps trick to think they run on Win 3.x ;-)

The same applies to XP, btw.

Try it on 64 bit Windows Vista... 16 bit apps don't work on 64 bit Windows
Vista.

Does Virtual PC run on x64?

Yep. There's even a 64-bit version of VirtualPC 2007 which is currently in
RC1, but due for release er, soon-ish...:-)

Only 32-bit guests, though...

So you could always run your 16bit apps in it. Seems like a simple enough
workaround.

It sure is. He can load Win95 on VPC then install Bob on Win95.

Then what?

Bob is a shell replacement. It's not an app that actually does anything.
It supposed to make using the OS easier and it failed.

Basically, Clippy was the unofficial (slimmed down) return of Bob and he
failed as well.
