Suppressing blank lines in a mail merge

I have seen many posts on this subject all with cumbersome work arounds.
What I would like is for someone to post a simple and concise If - then
statement that will suppress the blank line created when in certain
situations my address does not have an address2.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

That really doesn't answer my question. This is how the rule field comes
up:
If

Field Name
(drop down box to select option) -- I choose "Address2"

Comparison
(drop down box to select option) -- I choose "is blank"

My choices then become -- compare to, insert text or Otherwise insert text...

How do you complete this rule to suppress the blank line if Address2 is
blank?

Could you give more information about what you're talking about in the
first place? Which system are you using? What are you using to send
mails? I have no idea which "Field Name" and "Comparison" fields you're
talking about...

Well, you don't say what your using, but since this is a .Net programming
group I gave you somple, concise .net code. If you're not using .net you
posted to the wrong group.

I was directed to this site by Microsoft, but if there is a better place
please let me know. I am using Word 2007 -- I am not a programmer or IT
person -- just want to do a mailing.

Thanks!
