Hi, I have a SupportPlus 20gb MP4 player. It says File System Error HDD Format or Check. Can you tell me what to do to fix it? I have been unsuccessful with getting help from the company. Thanks

You need to connect it to a computer and recognise it as an external device.

Does the player not play then?

If it doesn't then the player's hard disk may be faulty or the hard disk contents could just have become 'confused'.

In which case you'll have to format it which will mean wiping all the music currently on the player.

On your computer check the player's properties and then note the file format if possible, it's probably FAT 32. Then right click and format in the same file type.

That's simplifying things somewhat and may not be entirely clear to you. Let us know first of all if your computer recognises it within 'My Computer' as an external device (assuming you're using Windows and not Linux or Apple software).

Sometimes my computer will recognize the unit as an external device. On my unit it always says USB Connected.

When the unit powers up, it is then that it gives me the error.

Sorry, I do not know how to format the unit, I am not computer savy. I know just enough to be dangerous. lol
But am will to try to learn.

Thanks for your help!

ERROR
File System Error
HDD Format or Check

That is all is says-- I can still set th date and time in the background.

Ok, assuming you're using windows, connect the mp3 player.

Go to my computer and identify your player, probably will be drive 'e' or another letter after that and be labelled as external device.

Right click on it, this brings up a drop down box. Click on Properties. Does it tell you what file system it is using? It will probably be FAT 32 or NTFS though not neccessarily.

It should also tell you the size of the player's hard disk and how much is used.

If it is one of those file systems, from the same drop down box you got from right clicking select format, then select the correct file system, then format.

Then try loading some songs on and trying it.

If you need more help ask here.

I am using Windows Vista, I found my device in my computer. It is selected as FAT 32 tells me the size. I selected format, once done I got a error that said Windows was unable to complet the format.

Well, I guess it's a loss cause. Thanks for all your help and time.

If you have anyother suggest will be game to try, unit isn't doing much good as it isl

It seems the hard disk on your player has died :(

I did suspect that.

Oh well, it happens.

Good luck.

I have same player and same error, but my computer doesn't even recognize it. Could you give me instructions for disassembling this player? I can't find it :(

same issues

I have the supportplus 20 gig player and vista and I can't get vista to recognize it. I just get the unknown device error. I don't have the drivers or the install disk.

I also have this problem + my pc does not recognize the player. Anyone knows what I can do? Put in a new HD perhaps?
