Does Windows 2000 server standard edition support hard drives larger than 128
MBytes? If not can it be made to do so.

I can't creat anything bigger than this on a 'new disk' and If I initialise
the disk on a different system it seems to become corrupt once its up to
about that size.

I'm not sure whether windows 2000 server is the culprit hence the question.

It didn't before SP3. See here for some more information:

That is if you're talking about 48 bit LBA support and drives larger than
137 GB?

Start/run/regedit
select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
navigate to system/services/atapi/parameters or
system/currentcontrolset/services/atapi/parameters
right click for new
Select Dword name it EnableBigLba (take note of case)
set value to 1
end regedit
reboot

That will do it for you - for sure.

Yes indeed thanks Galen I also discovered at
http://techpatterns.com/forums/about260.html that WindowsXP has a
similar problem although it would appear that Service pack 2 sorts it
out.

Its quite a relief to find that a registry edit rather than new server
hardware should fix my problem!

Good to hear it.
